Lela Art Gallery will present a solo show of Wendimagegn Belete in a new exhibition opening Saturday, June 20. “Nostalgia” will run through July 12th, 2015 at LeLa Contemporary art Gallery in Addis Ababa. Nostalgia is a collection of new abstract paintings by the Addis-born artist. Graduated with distinction from the Ale Felege School of Fine Arts of Addis Ababa University in 2012, Wondimagegn is known for his black and white abstract paintings which are marked for their spontaneity and improvisation and directness of expression.
“The imperfect lines and brushstrokes adds dimension and movement, their theoretical simplicity and execution is what makes them powerful and timeless, so that the viewer is virtually enveloped by the experience of confronting the work which commands attention,” the gallery said in press statement.
