Adem Mohammed to become ambassador to Turkey

Adem Mohammed, the departing Military’s Chief of Staff, is to become Ethiopia’s Ambassador to Turkey, according to sources. Adem would replace Girma Temesgen, who was appointed in October 2018. General Adem Mohammed had served as Chief of General Staff of the National Defence Force since June 2019, replacing Seare Mekonnen who was killed following an alleged attempted coup in a regional state. Previous to that, Adem had served as director of the National Intelligence and Security Services. Lencho Bati, a senior foreign policy adviser to the office of the prime minister, will be dispatched to Saudi Arabia to replace Abdulaziz Ahmed who has been in the post since May 2018. Dembitu Hambissa, the departing cabinet affairs minister, will be dispatched to Italy to replace Zenebu Tadesse who has been in that post since 2017, according to sources.
