Ethiopia cases top 7,000, death toll at 124
  • Country reports 147 new cases, four fatalities over past 24 hours

The number of coronavirus cases in Ethiopia crossed 7,000 and the death toll reached 124 on Thursday.

The  Federal Ministry of Health (FMoH) reported 147 new cases, which brought the total to 7,120 from more than 275, 930 tests.

Four fatalities have been registered over the past 24 hours, all of them tested post-mortem for coronavirus. The country has confirmed  473 recoveries, raising the total number of recoveries cases to 3,991.

 Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed thanked on Thursday German Chancellor Angela Merkel for sending medical aid amid the coronavirus pandemic. In a telephonic conversation, Abiy appreciated Germany’s partnership and commitment towards enhancing Ethiopia’s capacity in mitigating the spread of the virus, according to Anadolu Agency. Germany is among the countries that provided testing kits and other supplies to Ethiopia, Office of the Prime Minister told Anadolu Agency.
