Drone strike on North Wollo health station kills at least three, injures several

A drone strike on the Sanka Gesho Ber health station in Gubalafto woreda, North Wollo Zone, killed three people, while two health workers were seriously injured and taken to Woldia Hospital, according to Meseret Media, which cited a resident of the village. BBC Amharic, however, reported that four people were killed in the attack, including a pregnant woman, and said at least ten others were injured.

An eyewitness told Meseret Media that a mother and father who had taken their son to a health station around lunchtime on Saturday were killed along with their child in a drone strike. Eight healthcare workers were also seriously injured while trying to provide medical assistance, BBC reported. The eight wounded staff members were transported to Woldia Hospital two days later, after the road reopened, according to the BBC.

Another witness, who said he helped pull the two health workers from the debris, told Meseret Media: “Their gowns were stained with blood.” A health worker cited by BBC Amharic said one of the people killed was a woman who had come to the facility to deliver her baby. Among the wounded was a 6-year-old child, according to the outlet.

According to the BBC, the zone administrator said they could not comment on the attack.

Sanka Geshober, located in Gubalafto woreda, is 23 kilometers from Woldia along the Bahir Dar route.
