Ethiopia passes 10,000 coronavirus cases

The number of people confirmed to have the coronavirus in Ethiopia has passed 10,000 while the number of total cases registered over the last twenty-four hours is 704.

The country has now 10, 207 confirmed cases of the virus, according to the Ethiopian Ministry of Health (MoH).

Among the cases, 551 of them are identified from Addis Ababa, 30 from the Oromia region, 39 from Tigray Region, 21 from the Amhara region, 26 from the Gambela region, 11 from the Sidama region, 10 from Dire Dawa, 5 from the Benshangul region, 3 from the Afar region and 3 from the Somali region, MoH announced.

The ministry also said that 5,137 patients who were tested positive for COVID-19 have recovered from the virus as of Sunday, in which 196 of the patients recovered during the past 24 hours.

Three Covid-19 linked deaths were registered in the past 24 hours, taking the total number of fatalities to 170. Two out of the three deaths were tested post-mortem for coronavirus.
