TPLF says its fighters clash with the Eritrean army

Rebel forces in the Tigray region say fighting has broken out again with neighbouring Eritrea.

The Tigrayan People’s Liberation Front (TPLF)’s spokesman Getachew Reda said on Twitter on May 31 that the Eritrean forces shelled the Tigray town of Sheraro on the 28th and 29th of May.

He accused Eritrea of attempting to escalate tensions. Eritrea has not yet responded to the reports.

Ethiopian government spokesperson Legesse Tulu told the BBC he had no information about the alleged fighting but said it could only be a provocation on the part of TPLF which would use to lay the blame on the Eritrean government.

In addition to the clashes that took place in the past two days, Getachew said that the Eritrean 57th and 21st divisions had attacked the Tigray region and that the Tigrayan forces had thwarted the attack in the Adi Awalla area. “A brigade commander, three battalion commanders and more than 300 soldiers were killed and wounded. Many weapons and materiel was also captured,” he added.

In response, the government spokesperson Legesse Tulu, told the BBC that “we do not believe Eritrea could  launch the attack  at this time.”

The TPLF forces are preparing for war and might be planning a provocation in the area as a pretext for the war, he added.

  1. I had said this before and I will say it again today. This conflict will not come to a peaceful end through war. Eritrea is a sovereign state with internationally recognized area of a territory. It is duty bound to protect its territory and the safety of its people. This is a fact no matter how we see it as a country. It seems that the leaders of the TPLF are itching again for bloodbath and destruction. As all Marxist/Leninist pukes they strive on violence and famine. They know very well that they had committed atrocities on Innocent civilians that meet the criteria of crimes against humanity. They also know that such crimes will someday be taken up by the court at The Hague. So they will keep milking this conflict till WWIII after which no human will still be left standing on this good earth. They will keep poking and nudging everyone around in provocation. If no one buys into that they will even fight their own shadows. That has been in the resume of all violence worshipping deresas of Marxism/Leninism. On the other side of Debre’s fence the Abiy folks are extremely busy these days and they don’t have time to talk to you. They are running out of breath in a rush herding journalists into filthy prisons. It is reported that they are jamming 199 of such prisoners in a room made to hold only 10. That is not right tantamount to terrorizing citizens. That is one of the habits of Africa that made it an expert in recycling. I’m very disappointed by such violations of human rights. Hostile external/internal elements/forces this and that? Just stifle! Just zip it!!!

  2. Truth be told The Derg overthrew the Ethiopian Empire and Emperor Haile Selassie in a coup d’état on 12 September 1974, establishing Ethiopia as a Marxist-Leninist state under a military junta and provisional government. The TPLF made it a country of democracy. they also rebuild Ethiopia from nothing that it once was.

President Meles Zenawi and members of the TGE pledged to oversee the formation of a multi-party democracy. The first election for Ethiopia’s 547-member constituent assembly was held in June 1994. This assembly adopted the constitution of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia in December 1994.

Pesident Abey War crimes have been committed during the Tigray War that started in November 2020. Extra-judicial executions, torture, rape, and attacks against refugees and displaced people were documented. Not to deny that TPLF also committed similar crimes in other regions.

A joint investigation by the Ethiopian Human Rights Commission (EHRC) and the UN Human Rights Office said there could also be evidence of war crimes by both sides.

the war started when Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy ordered an offensive against regional forces in northern Tigray region. With no reason or proof to launch an offense or justification for genocide and rape.
