- TPLF says two members of of its central committee arrested in Addis Ababa
The Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) has denied the governing party’s accusation that it was involved in last week’s murder of a popular protest singer – an event which prompted violent protests leaving around 200 people dead.
“It’s a flat-out lie,” Getachew Reda, a spokesman for TPLF – which used to dominate the political scene – told BBC Focus on Africa presenter Bola Mosuro.
The governing party had earlier accused the TPLF and an armed Oromo rebel group of being behind the shooting of Hachalu Hundessa, the BBC wrote.
In related news, TPLF said Friday that two of its senior members had been detained in Addis Ababa following violence last week. The officials from TPLF were seized by security forces in Addis Ababa, a party official told BBC Tigrigna. They include Tewolde Gebretsadik, a member of the party’s central committee, and head of the Addis Ababa office of TPLF and Tesfalem Yihidego, another member of the party’s central committee and director Justice and Legal System Research and Training Institute.

the killing is political and a well-calculated act, that can trigger conflict easily. who is behind the act and who would benefit from it and who is celebrating, there is not so much speculation for many Ethiopians and myself, look for TPLF

Dr. Abiy’s government should seek collaboration from an international body and document Tplf crime over the past 45 years and turn it in to the International Criminal Court. He being intel colonel probably has the facts at his fingertips! There are already in the ranks of the Tplf (such as Gebremedhin, Dr. Aregawi, Gidey, etc) who have written extensively on the brutalities (at the infamous 06 torture chamber) and the stealing of millions of aid money while Tigreans were falling like flies from famine. In fact, Tplf was getting food aid from the West but instead of distributing it to the needy had set up a warehouse in Sudan with its members acting as merchants selling it off in dollars!! You have not heard the half it. Alex de Waal at Tufts knows this. Gayle Smith knows this. Bob Geldof knows that (later becoming “Sir” Geldof partly as a result of working with Tplf!).
Three years in a row in June since Abiy came to power Tplf has attempted to bring havoc on the nation and failed by a slim margin. The evidence is there in plain sight. American gov and the Brits know full well what is going on. Remember their interest is not necessarily Ethiopia’s welfare. They knew Meles/Tplf was playing games. They tolerated him because he was useful to their regional plan. Meles was willing to shed Ethiopian blood in Somalia for pay; he did also undertake extraordinary rendition in Ethiopia for pay of course, so that American and British leaders would not lose elections over human rights abuses. Same plan is in place for Abiy. That is why Ethiopians have come together to once for all get rid of the much despised Tplf and its affiliates.
Tplf over the years has been hoarding and hauling US dollars in suitcases to Mekelle and opening accounts in China, Dubai, Singapore, even in Europe. It had been manufacturing and hoarding ammunition. Its “digital woyane” was busy on a disinformation campaign within the country and abroad. EVERY ETHIOPIAN KNOWS THIS!
We need to review events leading to the present chaos unleashed by Tplf. In early March Tplf Boss Sebhat Nega was denigrating Dr. Abiy in a 3-part interview. This was followed by Tplf leader and former foreign minister Seyoum Mesfin to discredit Dr. Abiy in relation to GERD and to link him to the death of Engineer Semegnew Bekele. What makes the intentions of Tplf leaders to sit for the interviews bizarre is a/ their use of Amharic instead of their customary Tigrigna b/ the journalists posing the questions were Tplf cadres; in other words, no hard questions were asked to interrupt the unfettered propaganda and disinformation campaign!
Towards the end of June a delegation led by Patriarch Mathias (who is a Tigrean and was installed by Tplf) was sent to Mekelle to bring “reconciliation” between Tplf and Dr. Abiy’s government. And the reconciliation could only happen on Tplf’s terms! Let us remember three things: First, Tplf lost in an election Eprdf carried out in 2008 (Abiy’s vote was 108, Tplf’s Debretsion got 2, one was cast by himself). Never forget Eprdf (a four-ethnic party coalition was put together by Tplf; initially Tplf members were part of the executive committee of each coalition!). Secondly, having tasted defeat Tplf did not go to the courts using laws it designed but instead fled to Mekelle to protect its loot and fearful of the horrendous crimes it committed will be made public and hence retribution will follow. It set its goals on four areas: pitting Amhara against Oromo; Muslim against Orthodox; unrelenting war on Dr. Abiy (one recent example was the narrative that Abiy is actually Eritrean by birth!); and inciting “minority” nationalities to demand their own separate region (which it had refused to even consider while in power). Third, this is consistent with Tplf’s refusal to accept the results of the 1997 elections where the hastily organized people’s party Kinijit had flushed it out of office. Tplf duped Americans that there was a coup underway and ended up stealing ballot boxes as well as jailing “coup” leaders!
Recently, I came across Susan Rice’s Tough Love which is nothing but where Ethiopia is mentioned and specifically Tplf security chiefs warning for example about Obama’s safety. After setting up a chaotic situation the chief later came back to convey to their “rep” Gayle Smith (or “Gayly” as the chief calls her) that they have it all under control (Obama entourage had to leave hastily). If we remember this was the occasion that Tplf had a most spectacular pr coup of its entire history. Obama arrived in Addis late afternoon in July. Tplf orchestrator was the then foreign minister Teodros Adhanom (currently WHO chief) who pointed out to Obama, Rice and others a huge rainbow in the sky was in Ethiopian tradition the sign that Obama was a man of peace, etc. Obama being a narcissist was, so to speak, drenched in the accolade. Obama later delivered a speech where he declared Tplf as a “democratically elected government!” We wept out of shame and pain. Susan Rice being a fox tried to distance herself later by her now infamous guffaw during questioning by a reporter! The rainbow of course was there the previous days and days after Obama had left!! It is that time of the year when such things happened in Addis and the rest of the country! All to say examples I cited are classic Tplf!

The Oromos are notoriously well known for eating their own. Brigadier General Tadesse Birru, Kebede Bzunish and Mecha Tuluma were shopped down and destroyed by none other than Oromos. Also, one shouldn’t be surprise about Oromos taking shamefully a marching order to kill Haachaaluu Hundessa from TPLF like the Self-hating former “Prim Minister“,Tamara Layne (who is largely responsible for the death of thousands of Amharas). Even Abdi illay, the former president of Ethiopia Somali Region, who is no friend of Oromos, utterly appalled by the senseless killing of this majestically gifted singer. I expect like millions of Ethiopians all over the world a swift action against TPLF and their tiny Oromo allies now incarceration. It is in this hope I’m forced to write this note.

U said this to say what? Eritreans didn’t assassinate Yemana Barria ,Tigrayans Sebehat Gabera Egzair nor Amharas killed Tilhaun Gesse. All were avant-garde artists to their respective communities. In this context, I’m not taking about million people who r slave to their appetites who sell down their mother in broad day light for a measly handout. For example, Dejazmatch Haile Selassie Gugessa betrayed his nation as his predecessors did to General Napier and Lord Kitchener against the Mahadi of Sudan. It is understandable there r people who can not read without assistance. It made me laugh. I laughed indulgently. Who isn’t an artiest, in the literal sense of the words? Few people in Finfine will come out on the record and make such drastic assertion about the late Tadesse Birru, Dejazmatch Kebede Tessema , unless of course , one suffers, a ting of anti-Oromo sentiments
