Around 20 Israelis are stranded in the town of Lalibela in the Amhara region as heavy fighting is underway between the TPLF and the federal army in the area, prompting the suspension of flights from the town to Addis Ababa, an Israeli media reported Sunday.

According to the stranded Israelis, who spoke to Israeli media, there is currently no way to leave the town, with all flights in the area grounded and roads to Addis Ababa closed due to the intensifying fighting.

“We often hear gunfire and explosions from the outskirts of the city,” one of the Israelis said. “Inside Lalibela itself, the situation is still relatively calm, and we can move around. We have food and a good, safe place to sleep, but the electricity has been cut off, and we are charging our phones using generators. Our cash reserves are also dwindling.”
