An unspecified number soldiers were killed and injured in drone strikes in the northwestern Tigray region, according to Dimtsi Weyane, in what appears to be another sign of renewed tensions between regional and federal forces. The outlet did not say how many were killed or wounded, but accused the Prosperity Party of being responsible. It reported that the drone strikes targeted areas around Shiraro, saying the attacks violated the Pretoria Agreement and that similar drone strikes had been carried out in the area in recent months.
Wazema Radio earlier reported that drone attacks were carried out in areas known as Gamahlo and Teqemati, outside the town of Shiraro, citing local residents who said they heard loud explosions at midnight and feared the outbreak of another war, and adding that the strikes targeted military camps.
